Open Events for Post 16 Colleges and Training:
if your child is in Year 10 or 11 it is essential that you visit open events this term. These events give you a flavour of the colleges, information about the courses and a chance to speak to staff. Many parents follow up with 1:1 visits or tours and phone-calls with student support so that, at the EHCP transfer review, they can express their choices and views. The process of securing a place at college for a child with additional needs and a EHCP is quite different to that of students applying for a mainstream course. It is never too early to start that process.
Parents /Carers will need to state preferences by Autumn of Year 11 in order to invite colleges to the EHCP transfer meetings.

Newcastle College - Thursday 8th October from 5.30pm—8pm
Newfriars College - Wednesday 21st October (see flyer that has been sent on 18/09/26—parents only—daytime)
